If you have a story and you're looking for someone to read it and give you honest corrections, this is the place to post.

Speaking of Beta reading, I'll have the first readable draft of Song of the Sword ready this weekend. It's around 28,000 words long and is a retelling of Rapunzel. For this round, I just want thoughts on the theme of the story and the plot, as well as comments on bits a reader would find confusing. If anyone is interested, you can contact me here: writinginthelightpublishing.com/contact-me-2/ and that way I'll have your e-mail address and can e-mail you a copy when it is ready.

I need beta readers!!!! (Thanks for making this a topic, Hope!!!) I managed to get myself into a lovely situation of forgetting what month it was (don’t ask how) and forgetting that my intended release date for my first book is coming up VERY QUICKLY. In my mind, I had 4 more months to get this book ready instead of the actual 2 1/2. *PANIC* Therefore, I find myself in dire need of a few more beta readers. If any of you lovely people are willing/interested to beta read my book, I would give you a bunch of cyber hugs and would shower you with thanks. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to write a cover blurb yet, but here is a blog post from a few weeks ago that tells a little about the story. lakesidepublications.com/130-years-ago-today/In short, The Old River Road is historical fiction (late 1800’s pioneering), based on the lives of my great-great grandparents. It’s about 90,000 words, which is approximately 35 chapters. This is short notice (and I’m so sorry!), so I would need everything back by the end of April. Format wise, I prefer to send it via google docs, but I can also do it as a word doc if necessary. You can contact me through the fourm here or via my blog. Thanks so much!

I'm looking for ONE beta reader for my recently-finished-first-draft-halfway-into-second-draft-novella, Dawn. I decided to go for something a little more interesting and set up a challenge under writing challenges. The winner of the challenge will be my beta reader. She will give me her address and I will mail her a copy. Any one on here can try as long as they are willing to give their address and their absolutely honest opinion.

IF YOU ARE HESITANT ABOUT GIVING OUT YOUR ADDRESS IF YOU WIN: You can email it to Hope and she will give it to me (same church) so it will remain private and not public.

Hey Hope. Where do you want me to put comments on Song of the Sword? Here, email, print them and give them to you at church...?

Anne, you could either put them in the document itself (have you ever used Word's comment tool? It's really useful for beta reading) and e-mail it back. That would the the easiest, I think, if you do use Microsoft Word. Otherwise you could print it and write on there, but that would take longer on your part. But I don't really mind...whatever is easiest for you.

I think I'll just print out my suggestions and give them to you at church. I can't imagine how long it took you to come up with all the rules for realm jumping and the songs and stuff. Awesome. Half way through the second full reading.

Sounds good. The realms were a little confusing at first, but I was able to figure that out pretty quickly. The hard part was the climax...how to write it without killing the characters I wanted to keep alive.
