My book, Scarlet Rose, takes place 200 years in the future...only I didn't think about how the world looks 200 years in the future until I started writing the books. I got a number of good ideas from my grandpa and uncle (who I had a chance to talk to this last weekend). These include the use of holograms for some communication and the renaming 'cars' to something else (personal transports?). I've actually been enjoying 'creating the future', though I'd enjoy it more if I had time to plan and weren't writing the book as I tried to finish the background. But I'm not finished by a long stretch? How does the internet operate? Where are they in space travel? What type of weapons and security do they have? What type of androids or programs? Any new foods or clothing styles? Anyway, feel free to comment below if you have any ideas.

Space travel: I've heard that some people are actually forming teams (or something like that) of men and women who are willing to give up their lives on earth and leave all their friends and family to go and try to start a new colony on some planet. They can't ever come back because it would take too long to get the planet. Just something to think about. No idea if it helps.

Yes...space travel doesn't have a big place (or really any place) in the story but I should probably reference it at some point just because it exists.

Oh! There's this thing about how grocery shopping works! (We discuss the future A LOT in my house.) You could have TVs that actually sort of listen to your conversations whenever it's on. That part's not really important though (since the Reasoners have sort of taken over, you might not want TVs that listen to people in their houses unless you want to add that to the plot . . .). It's just extra cool. Because then you say something aloud--for example, you mention that you are out of bread. The next commercial on TV would be a bread commercial. Then all you have to do is press a button and order what you are seeing on TV. Within five minutes a drone from the grocery store you ordered the bread from will be at your door with the bread. Take that any way you want. It's just what we thought would be cool (and probable) in the next few decades of real life.

That is a cool idea! I hadn't thought about shopping much, but I might have to add something like that...

One thing I've noticed in society today is that a lot of things get refered to by acronyms or shortened versions of the word to save time saying it or typing. So if you do call cars personal transports, for example, people could refer to them as PTs, or something like that.

What about those pens they created that you just tap a color and the ink turns that color? I think that would be cool to put in.

And also pizza fries should be more common. Seriously.

Pizza on French fries? I'd never even heard of them... I assume you like them.

It's fries with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese on them. I've never actually had them though because I can't find any place that sells them. (I have heard of them and seen pictures and I really want some.)

I love pizza and I love fries. I'm not sure how they'd taste together, but I'd try them if I had a chance.

You guys should try Loaded Potatoes. You mix fries (we send raw potatoes through a french fry chopper, but we have also used frozen regular fries) with oil and spices and bake them, then you sprinkle cheese and green onions on top, pop it back in the oven to melt then serve it with Sour Cream. They are SOOOOO delicious!!!! Here is a link to the recipe. Loaded Baked Potatoes Fries
