I thought it might be fun to have a thread of the back cover of our WIP's. Back covers are important...they are one of the first things that grab the reader's attention. And for me, at least, they require a LOT of work! Here is the back cover for one of my books, Never Alone.
For fourteen-year-old Callie Nickly, the sacrifices that being a follower of Christ require are absolutely terrifying. Because her parents are hunted for practicing unlawful religion, and because they have decided to educate their children at home against government regulations, Callie’s family has no choice but to relocate countless times to evade prison, work camps, and ultimately, death. The many frightening years of living ‘underground’ have taken a toll on Callie’s faith, but nothing could have prepared her for that fateful July night when she and her two siblings were forced to flee for their lives. When a tragic accident separates the children, leaving Callie with severe physical impairments, even her extreme physical pain isn’t enough to mirror the hurts and questions that trouble her heart. Callie is left wondering; is there really a loving God? And if there is, why is He allowing such horrible things to happen?

Maybe this would be considered more of a tagline, but this is one I've come up with for a story I'm still in the plotting stage for, called Mithras and Myrrh.
A soldier and a slave; united by blood, divided by faith.

Very interesting, especially since a story is normally 'united by faith and divided by blood' or something along those lines.

Here is a 'blurb' about King's Armor.
Cyth has known his whole life the day is coming when he will start the pilgrimage to find the King’s armor and prove his manhood. But when the day comes Cyth soon realizes that takes more than stealth and strength to continue forward and keep away from the deadly Maligents and their leader, Draygan. With his faith in the Prince crumbling, the Maligents advancing on Aulora, and himself helpless in their clutches, Cyth must discover the truth before it is too late.

A soldier and a slave; united by blood, divided by faith. Wow, that is really cool. I love it. It seems like that would be a good subtitle...on the front cover of the book.

Interesting blurbs, Hope and Ivyrose! Tuppence, that's a great tagline.
This is a very rough blurb for the Lion and the Rose- my historical fantasy series:
When revolution erupts in Damarul, the neighboring country of Cathenir is horrified. But what can their diplomats do against a horde of wronged people who thirst for the lives of the royalty and nobles who they claim have oppressed them for so many years? For the moment, they will have to let the revolution take its course. One person refuses to sit idle while men and women die every day in Damarul. He hatches a daring plot to save the imperiled nobles. He works in secret, known only by the name of The Black Lion. He becomes the toast of Cathenir and the nemesis of the Damarul rebels. Then the revolution spreads to the country of Manchongtar and soon the very flower of their royalty and nobility also languish in prison. Hundreds more people call to The Black Lion to be saved. He cannot be in two places at once. Enter The Aubergine Rose, a similar secret hero who begins rescuing people from Manchongtar. He knows the the court, the government and the land of Manchongtar thoroughly and always appears when and where he is least expected. The countries of Damarul and Manchongtar are understandably livid. One burning ambition fires them, to catch the Lion and the Rose and make them pay for defying their new governments. But... how can they catch them when they don’t even know who the people are behind the secret identities or why they choose to daily risk their own lives to save people who have no claim upon them?

Sounds interesting. Scarlet Pimpernel type heroes you said...I love the Scarlet Pimpernel.

I do, too, obviously. I've read all of the books multiple times and seen both the 1934 and 1982 movies more than once.

I think I've read all the books...and the funny thing is my favorite one is the Laughing Cavalier, which isn't even about the Pimpernel. It think it is because the Percy in that one acts like the Pimpernel and is in the whole story, not just the end like so many of the other stories. I've seen both those movies too...and a newer one. But the story in that one was poorly done and there were some stuff in it that I didn't like. The actor was a perfect Pimpernel though.

Was that the 1999-2000 BBC TV series with 6 episodes? I saw one episode of that and it annoyed me hugely because I felt they didn't capture the spirit of the characters at all.

It might have been...I think it was. I didn't feel like it was well done at all.

Here's my blurb for my NaNo novel Where Loyalties Lie Carson has one goal: keeping him and his younger cousin alive. He'll do anything, even create two aliases and work for (and against) both sides in a power struggle that has taken control of the city. Both sides hate the mysterious man who seems to thwart their plans at every turn. So naurally, it would follow that they should send their own best man to kill the other side's best man. Right? Except what do you do if you've just been assigned to kill yourself, and yet make it out alive? Carson does the only thing he can do- he goes off grid. Under the guise of undercover scouting for his assignment, he essentially drops off the face of the earth. Enter Jaime, an opinionated underground revolutionist. The day she goes in for her 6th Mark, things change. Through a mutual accquaintance, she and Carson meet, and Jaime quickly sees the oppurtunity that the Revolution has been given. However, in a world where 8 Marks means you quietly disappear one night, Jaime's running out of time. With two allies, secrets twined so tightly no one knows the whole of them, and more enemies than he can count, Carson must decide where his loyalties truly lie. You can only play both sides for so long before you have to choose between them- but what if neither is good? Thoughts?

Here is my NaNo project.
Izzy is the princess of the second human kingdom until elves, mermaids, and corbin attack it, kill her father, and begin to kill any human that they find in any land but the first human kingdom. Hatred and justice motivate her to rescue any of the humans that she can find from the creatures and take them to Marilia, the surviving human kingdom. When an ultimate choice between human lives and true love arises, she has no idea what to do. Oh, and love your book SierraJoanne!
